{"id":453,"date":"2014-11-18T16:05:28","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T16:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tech-g.com\/?p=453"},"modified":"2022-07-04T16:56:27","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T16:56:27","slug":"wndr3700v3-reverting-to-stock-or-openwrt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/2014\/11\/18\/wndr3700v3-reverting-to-stock-or-openwrt\/","title":{"rendered":"WNDR3700V3 reverting to stock or openwrt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my case, i was switching to the openwrt from dd-wrt.<\/p>\n<p>I got my netgear WNDR3700 V3 (which is broadcom not atherios) used from ebay, Switching from dd-wrt to openwrt<\/p>\n<p>First of all, there is a bug in the dd-wrt 21061 that makes it not possible to use SSH, so i logged in with telnet<\/p>\n<p>Now,<\/p>\n<p>wget http:\/\/theplacewhereyouputthefile\/filename.bin (the original firmware is .chk not .bin)<\/p>\n<p>Then<\/p>\n<p>mtd -e linux -r write \/tmp\/x.bin linux<\/p>\n<p>And the router showed things like<\/p>\n<p>Unlocking Linux &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Erasing Linux<\/p>\n<p>Writing from x.bin to Linux &#8230; [e]<br \/>\nWriting from x.bin to Linux &#8230; [w]<\/p>\n<p>Then, connection to the host was lost<\/p>\n<p>Then the router was bricked<\/p>\n<p>I did get ping replies from the router, but that did not mean it is working<\/p>\n<p>So, my next thing to do was this, the router booted itself into recovery mode, so i got the original firmware.<\/p>\n<p>tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put x.chk<\/p>\n<p>Transfer successful: 7258170 bytes in 29 second(s), 250281 bytes\/s<\/p>\n<p>Where X is simply the factory firmware .chk file, now leave the router for more than 5 minutes while it digests the update, then use the web interface to update to the openwrt chk file<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my case, i was switching to the openwrt from dd-wrt.
