{"id":409,"date":"2014-01-29T14:20:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buildcube.com\/tech_blog\/?p=409"},"modified":"2014-01-29T14:20:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-29T14:20:00","slug":"disable-windows-has-detected-a-hard-disk-problem-in-windows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/2014\/01\/29\/disable-windows-has-detected-a-hard-disk-problem-in-windows\/","title":{"rendered":"Disable Windows has detected a hard disk problem message in windows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following are the steps to disable the error message associated with a bad hard drive, the message that windows will display after every login, we will disable it from within windows without disabling it in the BIOS.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tech-g.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/error2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tech-g.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/error2-300x245.jpg\" alt=\"error\" width=\"300\" height=\"245\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/error2-300x245.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/error2.jpg 554w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The message above reads (On my computer, on yours, the disk model number and the names of the volumes will probably be different.<\/p>\n<pre>\nWindows has detected a hard disk problem.\nBack up your files immediately to prevent information loss, and then contact the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or replace the disk\n\nThen, you are presented with the following two options\n\nStart the backup process\n\nAsk me again later\n-- If the disk fails before the next warning, you could lose all of the programs and documents on the disk.\n\nIn the show details dialogue you should see \n\nImmediate steps\nBecause disk failure will cause you to loose all programs, files and documents on the disk, you should back up your important information immediately, try not to use your computer until you have repaired or replaced the hard disk.\nWhich disk is failing\nThe following hard disks are reporting failure.\nDisk name: TOSHIBA MK3264GSXN ATA Device\nVolume: C:, D:, E: \n<\/pre>\n<p>My advice would be<\/p>\n<p>Do not disable S.M.A.R.T. from BIOS, rather, ask windows not to display this message, this is because for a failing disk, you would want the S.M.A.R.T. data accessible from other programs or to keep an eye on it.<\/p>\n<p>To disable this error message from within windows, do the following<\/p>\n<p>click the start button and enter the word &#8220;task&#8221; in the search box, Task Scheduler should appear, right click it and chose run as administrator.<br \/>\nOnce it is open, follow the tree to your left as follows<br \/>\n&#8220;Task Scheduler Library&#8221; => &#8220;Microsoft&#8221; => &#8220;Windows&#8221;. => &#8220;DiskDiagnostic&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As shown in the image, select the second entry, right click it, then click disable.<\/p>\n<p>The following is the dialogue<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tech-g.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/diskdiag2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tech-g.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/diskdiag2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"diskdiag\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/diskdiag2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/diskdiag2-1024x580.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.voodoo.business\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/diskdiag2.jpg 1366w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>close, and restart your computer to check if it worked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following are the steps to disable the error message associated with a bad hard drive, the message that windows will display after every login, we will disable it from within windows without disabling it in the BIOS.
